<br /> 100 <br />Regular Meeting July 26, 1993 Page 7 <br />funding for Arts in the CVB funding being increased to 12% from 10%. <br />Mr. Gilley will discuss this with the Chamber during contract <br />negotiations. <br />Mayor Morris introduced the City Manager's Report. Mr. Gilley <br />advised the Council the Women's Class C state Softball Championship <br />was held in San Marcos over the weekend, and the Parks Department <br />ran the tournament. They received many compliments for the <br />efficient handling of the tournament. Thirty-eight teams from out <br />of town participated, plus the coaches and family. <br />Mayor Morris introduced the City Attorney' Report. Mr. Taylor <br />advised the city Council regarding the Voting Rights Act the City <br />cannot petition a federal court for a change in our election system. <br />This only happens if the city is sued. The city's only option for <br />change is through a Charter amendment. <br />Mayor Morris introduced the City Council's Report. (1) Mayor <br />Morris attended the Bertie Harwood Celebration honoring women mayors <br />held in Marble Falls. (2) Mayor Morris reminded everyone the "Love <br />our children" signs are available to post in neighborhoods for $15 <br />each. (3) Mayor Morris asked when the Council wants to schedule <br />the discussion regarding the 2:00 a.m. issue. Mr. ~Moore stated he <br />would like to receive information from the Police Department on this <br />issue. The Council discussed possibly scheduling the matter on <br />August 23. <br />Mayor Morris introduced an Executive Session pursuant to Article <br />6252-17, Sections 2(e) and (g), V.A.C.S., to discuss pending <br />litigation (Roberts vs. San Marcos Electric utility) and matters <br />where the city Attorney's ethical duty to the city clearly conflicts <br />with Article 6252-17; and appointment of a public officer (Alternate <br />Mayor Pro-Tem) and duties of public officers (Mayor Morris and <br />Council Member Guerra), respectively,. Mayor Morris moved to adjourn <br />into Executive Session at 10:05 p.m. and Mr. Hart seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br />Mr. Moore moved to reconvene at 11:21 p.m. and Mr. Hart seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br />The meeting adjourned at 11:22 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Guerra and <br />seconded by Mr. Hart. <br /> Kathy M.
