Mrs. Norris asked about the prohibition <br />of burials on Sunday. Dinah Elwell indicated this was the practice <br />established by local funeral homes and that a burial permit would <br />have to be obtained from the City in advance and couldn't be obtained <br />except Monday through Friday. City Manager A. C. Gonzalez stated the <br />ordinance had been changed to add that the fees for perpetual care <br />would be collected by the funeral home making the arrangements. Dinah <br />Elwell also pointed out to Council under Section 6-26 (Permit Fees) <br />that the same amount of $150 would be charged for resetting of grave <br />markers as is for the setting of grave markers and that removal of <br />existing curbing in the amount of $150 would be charged. Mr. James <br />moved that the Ordinance be amended to strike the words as follows: <br />"or resetting" and <br />"or removal of", <br />those two line items would then read as follows: <br />The setting of grave markers $150 <br />Repairs to existing curbing or any <br />other type of above-ground enclosure $150. <br />Mr. Brown seconded the amendment. On roll call the following vote <br />was recorded: <br />AYE: Brown, James, Craddock, Kreczmer and Mendez. <br />NAY: Cavazos and Norris. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />The Council then voted on the first reading of the Ordinance. On <br />roll call the following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Brown, James, Craddock, Kreczmer and Mendez. <br />NAY: Cavazos and Norris. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />The Staff was instructed to give recommendations on fees in the near <br />future for the resetting of grave markers and the removal of curbing. <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance <br />on first reading setting rates of fare for shuttle service of passen- <br />gers, which caption was read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, SETTING RATES OF FARE FOR PASSENGERS <br />OF VEHICLES PROVIDING SHUTTLE SERVICE OVER REGULAR <br />ROUTES BETWEEN WIMBERLEY, TEXAS, AND LOCATIONS WITH- <br />IN SAN MARCOS, TEXAS; SETTING RATES OF FARE FOR PAS- <br />SENGERS OF VEHICLES PROVIDING AIRPORT LIMOUSINE SER- <br />VICE OVER IRREGULAR ROUTES BETWEEN AIRPORTS IN AUSTIN, <br />TEXAS, AND SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, AND LOCATIONS WITHIN <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Mrs. Norris moved to approve the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. <br />Brown seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration approval of an ordinance <br />on second reading granting a five-year franchise for transportation <br />of persons and property to Armadillo Express, the caption which was <br />read as follows:
