Traffic buttons, <br />on the other hand, offer only minimal protection but a considerable degree of <br />maneuverability for cyclists. <br />A number of other factors need to be considered in the design of bike-way <br />facilities. These include: <br />-design speed, <br />-grades, <br />-curvature, <br />-stopping sight distance, <br />-surface material, <br />-intersection treatment, <br />-striping, marking, and signing <br /> For bike lanes and bike streets, many of the factors (e.g., design speed, <br /> grade, curvature) are determined by the street the facility is located within. <br /> <br />-9-
