Section 6.03 of the city charter and to be worded as follows <br /> (clarifying language is underlined): <br /> "Sec. 12. 11. Amending the Charter. <br /> Amendments to this charter may be framed and submitted to the <br /> voters of the city in the manner provided by state law and in <br /> compliance with the provisions of this charter pertaining to the <br /> holding of elections, including the requirements in Section 6.03 for <br /> verification of signatures on any petition paper that have been <br /> continuously in effect since the adoption of the original city charter <br /> on February 24, 1967." <br /> FOR 1566 <br /> AGAINST 1270 <br /> SECTION 4. That Scott Gregson received a majority of the votes and is elected to serve <br /> as City Council Member Place 5. <br /> SECTION 5. That Melissa Derrick received a majority of votes and is elected to serve <br /> as City Council Member Place 6. <br /> SECTION 6. Proposition 1, relating to fluoridation of the San Marcos municipal water <br /> supply, is hereby adopted and the text thereof shall be added to the San Marcos City Charter as a <br /> new section to be numbered and titled as follows: "Section 11.12. Fluoridation of Municipal <br /> Water Supply." <br /> SECTION 7. Proposition 2 is hereby adopted to add a cross-reference in Section 12.11 <br /> to the requirements in Section 6.03 for verification of signatures on any petition paper in order to <br /> make it clear that signatures on petitions to place charter amendments on the ballot are subject to <br /> the verification requirements that have been in place at all times since the original city charter <br /> was adopted on February 24, 1967. <br /> SECTION 8. The importance of this ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative <br /> public necessity, and the provisions of the charter requiring that ordinances be presented at two <br /> separate meetings are hereby waived. This ordinance will take effect immediately upon its <br /> adoption on only one reading. <br /> PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this the 12'h day of November 2015. <br /> 3 <br />
