<br />2 <br />Regular Meeting July 10, 1995 Page 2 <br />of Chris Williams to complete a vacancy on the civil Service <br />Commission and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and <br />approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was <br />read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, - <br />TEXAS, CHANGING THE NAME OF BROWNE STREET TO ENDICOTT STREET <br />BETWEEN BURLESON STREET AND VIOLA STREET; PROVIDING FOR <br />PUBLICATION AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak. No one did, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. <br />Cox moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. <br />Mooney second~d the motion. Mr. Cox stated there is a valid public <br />safety issue involved in changing the name of the street. The <br />Council voted unanimously for approval of the Ordinance on first <br />reading. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and <br />adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPROVING FARES TO BE CHARGED BY CAPITAL AREA RURAL <br />TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM FOR USE OF THE SAN MARCOS TRANSIT SYSTEM; <br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked £f anyone wished to <br />speak. No one did, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. <br />Guerra moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Mooney seconded <br />the motion. Mr. Barrett, Director of the trolley system, stated it <br />has averaged 850 per week using the system. The Council voted <br />unanimously for adoption of the Resolution. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance <br />on emergency, the caption which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING THE CITY BUDGET ORDINANCE FOR THE 1994-1995 <br />FISCAL YEAR TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR ADDITIONAL STAFF IN THE <br />INFORMATION SERVICES DEPARTMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> , <br />Mr. Cox moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency and Mr. <br />Guerra seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of minutes of the <br />Regular Meeting held June 26, 1995, approval of an Ordinance on <br />second reading, adoption of an Ordinance on third and final reading <br />and adoption of seven Resolutions on consensus. The Council removed <br />Item 8.B., approval of an Ordinance on second reading, Items 8.D. (2) <br />and 8.D. (7), adoption of Resolutions to be considered separately. <br />Mr. Guerra moved for approval of the minutes of the Regular Meeting <br />held June 26, 1995, adoption of the Ordinance on third and final <br />reading and adoption of the remaining five Resolutions on consensus <br />and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />The captions of the Ordinance and Resolutions read as follows: <br />Adoption of Ordinance on third and final reading: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING THE ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING QUALIFICATIONS FOR <br />MEMBERS OF THE CITY PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION TO ALLOW AN <br />ADDITIONAL MEMBER TO OWN REAL PROPERTY OR RESIDE IN THE CITY'S <br />EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS <br />AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. <br />Adoption of Resolutions: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPROVING THE REMOVAL BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE OF MATTHEW <br />HARMATUK AND GENE TUCKER FROM THE CITY'S RESERVE POLICE FORCE; <br />AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />
