-
'.55
RESOLUTION TO THE SAN MARCOS CITY COUNCIL FROM CONCERNED SENIOR
CITIZENS REGARDING THE POTENTIAL USE OF THE FORMER FIRST CHRISTIAN
CHURCH ON SAN ANTONIO STREET FOR SENIOR CITIZEN PURPOSES
BE IT RESOLVED that we, the undersigned Senior Citizens of the City
of San Marcos, Texas, do recommend and encourage that th~ City
Council do all in its power to conform to the uses designated by
,--..
Mr. H. Y. Price, Jr., in making his donation of the former First
Christian Church to the City of San Marcos rather than electing
to sell that facility which has been so designated, in part, for
Senior Citizen use.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we recommend upon renovation of that
facility, a significant part be specifically designated, and
maintained by the City of San Marcos, for use as a Senior Citizen
Center similar to the manner in which Senior Citizen Centers are
provided for by other municipalities, often not nearly the size
~ ~
of San Marcos.
FURTHERMORE, to reduce the estimated renovat~on costs, we would
accept a more basic renovation plan than that which has been
previously considered, sufficient to make the facility usable for
its designated purposes.
WE FURTHER CONSIDER that since the City of San Marcos has received
this valuable and historically significant property at no cost,
and has accepted it for the specific uses designated, that the
proposals made by this RESOLUTION are reasonable and in keeping
with the expectations of the donor, Mr. H. Y. Price, Jr.
THIS RESOLUTION is subscribed to by the undersigned Senior Citizens
of the City of San Marcos for presentation to the San Marcos City
Council, this the 14th day of August, 1995.
.
