102
Special Meeting December 19, 1994 Page 2
Contingency Funds in the amount of $10,000 for travel expenses for the San Marcos
High School Rattler Band to attend ceremonies in Washington, D.C. Mr. Moore moved
for approval for use of contingency funds and Mr. Hart seconded the motion. Mr.
Hernandez asked if the funds could be used from the Hotel/Motel account. Mr. Gilley
stated the request did not qualify for use from Hotel/Motel funds. Mr. Taytor stated the
request did not qualify for use of funds because the Rattler Band would not be
promoting San Marcos as a tourist destination. Mr. Guerra asked if the funds would be
returned to the City if the band did not raise all the money for their trip. Mr. Gilley
stated that was correct. Mr. Hernandez stated he was concerned with the funding
source and would like to see the money come from the Hotel/Motel account. Mr. Taylor
stated the funds did not qualify as tourist promotional activities. Mr. Gilley stated the
General Fund Contingency Funds would be the best source for funding. Mr. Guerra
stated the City was very proud the San Marcos High School Rattler Band would be
representing Texas in Washington, D.C. The Council then voted unanimously for
approval of the use of $10,000 in Contingency Funds.
The meeting adjourned at 12:10 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Hernandez and seconded
by Mr. Moore.
~~~\ ~
Billy G.
