• ORDINANCE NO. 2009-38 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE <br />BY AMENDING CHAPTER 62, ARTICLE 2, <br />SECTION 62.093 TO AUTHORIZE <br />ASSIGNMENT PAY FOR POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL ASSIGNED TO <br />MENTAL HEALTH OFFICER DUTY AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 62, Public Safety, Article 2, Section 6.093 of the San Marcos City <br />Code is hereby amended to read as follows: (underlining indicates added text; evefstr-ike <br />indicates deleted text): <br />Sec. 62.093. Compensation. <br />• Police department personnel assigned to special assignments shall be <br />compensated at a rate established by the city council by separate ordinance, <br />in addition to regular pay, for performance of special assignment services. <br />Special assignment services performed for less than a month will be <br />compensated on a pro-rata basis. <br />(1) Assignment pay is authorized for the following assignments in the <br />police department: <br />a. Canine handlers. <br />b. Criminal investigations/narcotics. <br />c. Crime prevention. <br />d. Training/field training. <br />e. School resource. <br />f. Downtown/outlet mall. <br />g. Motorcycle patrol duty. <br />h. Mental heath officer duty. <br />(2) The rate of pay for all types of special assignment services is <br />$160.00 per month. <br />• SECTION 2. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance is <br />held to be unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the other provisions of
