(1) Mr. Gilley
stated signs are being installed to keep truck traffic off IH35 out
of the neighborhoods. (2) Mr. Gilley stated in regard to the
Downtown Water System Improvements, the State will proceed to ;
overlay in a month. Three other streets involved in the ¡
improvements could be brought up to standards by the contractor. -
Mr. Gilley advised it would be more cost effective to reconstruct
these streets than to simply overlay. He stated reconstruction
could be paid for with fund balance or possibly from monies left
over from a bond issue. It was consensus to reconstruct the streets
and for Mr. Gilley to bring funding recommendations to the Council.
(3) Mr. Gilley advised the Souths ide Community Center utilities and
street improvements would cost approximately $100,700.00 and
slightly less if coordinated with the Sunset Acres project. The
sanitary sewer portion would run $36,800.00, water main $17,100.00
and paving $46,800.00. He stated eight or nine easements are still
needed for the Sunset Acres project. Mr. Guerra asked Mr. Gilley to
find out if the neighborhood association was notified of the
Southside project in their area.
