<br />l 36 <br />Regular Meeting April 25, 1994 Page 6 <br />Mayor Morris introduced the city Manager's Report. (1) Mr. Gilley <br />advised the City has received notification that we are an All <br />America city Award Finalist and will compete with thirty cities for <br />ten awards on June 11, 1994 before the National civic League Jury <br />Hearings and Civic Action Fair in Oakland, California. The city <br />submitted application for this award for three projects:' the <br />citizens Task Force for a Better San Marcos, Partnership for a Drug <br />Free San Marcos, and Playscape. (2) Mr. Gilley stated he will make <br />plans for the city Council's Budget Policy Statement Workshop when <br />the Council determines when they wish to hold their meeting. No <br />determination was made at this meeting when that might be. <br />Mayor Morris introduced the City Attorney's Report. Mr. Taylor had <br />no report at this meeting. <br />Mayor Morris 'introduced the city council's Report. (1) Mr. Cox <br />asked if there had been resolution to Baldemar Selvera's problem, <br />and Mr. Gilley stated it has been taken care of. (2) Mayor Morris <br />stated she was advised during the SWTjCity Liaison Meeting they are <br />forming an Aquarena Advisory Committee, and Mayor Morris asked if <br />any of the Council wished to represent the City on this Committee. <br />Messrs. Mooney and Guerra expressed interest in serving. (3) The <br />Texas Department of Housing and community Affairs advised the City <br />we have been awarded a grant in the amount of $112,119.00 for the <br />expansion of Southwest Texas Aviation, Inc. <br />Mayor Morris introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the <br />Government Code, Section 551. 071, to discuss pending litigation <br />(Sierra Club vs. Babbitt; San Marcos Joint Venture vs. city of San <br />Marcos), and matters where the city Attorney's ethical duty to the <br />city clearly conflicts with Government Code, Chapter 551; sections <br />551.072 and 551.073, to discuss purchase of real property and value <br />of real property.
