Recíeation Facility Task
Force has met regularly to assess the need for and develop a comprehensive plan to
effectively provide facilities for recreation and convention opportunities for the City of
San Marcos, In addition to our regular meetings we have held a Public Hearing and
attended a workshop with the City Council. The Task Force has heard from a number of
groups who have expressed an interest in the project AI! have been positive about the
idea of a multi-purpose facility for the city.
Attached is a matrix that lists the type of activities that can be offered in the proposed.
facility. along with the age group that can participate in them. Another matrix lists groups
we heard from along with the types of space that would meet their íequests.
Also included is a list of the proposed programs, estimated number of users and income
for the proposed facility.
During our many months of meetings, the Task Force devised an outline of what types of
rooms/space would be required to meet the needs. Many ideas were discussed and
compromises were made, In December, Mike Beaty of Beaty Saunders Architects was
employed to design a faciOty to meet our outline. I
On Monday, the Task Force will present more background about the project and Mr.
Beaty will present floor plans and architectural drawings of the proposed facility.
