<br />City of San Marcos <br />City Council Budget Policy Statement <br />Fiscal Year 1997-1998 <br />Mission Statement <br />The mission of the City of San Marcos is to assure the residents of the City a <br />sense of community, safety and neighborhood integrity by providing necessary <br />municipal services, fiscal responsibility and comprehensive planning for the <br />future. In addition, the City shall promote flexibility in public/private <br />partnerships, sound economic development, intergovernmental cooperation and <br />protection of our natural resources and the environment. <br />1. Infrastructure <br />Policy: Develop the City's infrastructure capacity to keep lip with and <br />anticipate new growth. <br />Priorities: <br />? Continue implementation of the Drainage Master Plan and develop appropriate <br />funding mechanisms. <br />? Acquire additional surface water rights and complete the surface water <br />treatment plant. <br />? Continue implementation of the Wastewater Master Plan. <br />? Dedicate $300,000 - $500,000 for preventative maintenance, including overlays <br />and reconstruction of streets. <br />? Aggressively.pursue highway and railroad related projects including: Wonder <br />World Drive Overpass, Centerpoint Road, IH 35 Overpass, FM110 and <br />Riverside/River Road connections. <br />? Direct Bond Committee to explore alternate transportation avenues including <br />alternate roads adjacent to east/west frontage roads along IH 35, identify <br />funding sources and create timelines for implementation. <br />79 <br />?
