City Council Meeting Minutes August 2, 2016 <br />For: 6 - Mayor Guerrero, Mayor Pro -Tem Thomaides, Council Member Prather, Deputy <br />Mayor Pro Tern Prewitt, Council Member Derrick and Council Member Gregson <br />Against: 0 <br />Absent: 1 - Council Member Hughson <br />20. Consider approval, by motion, of a proposal to set the 2016 tax rate at a maximum of <br />53.02 cents per $100 valuation, which is the same rate adopted in 2015, which is <br />higher than the effective tax rate. <br />A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, seconded by Council <br />Member Derrick, that the 2016 tax rate at a maximum of 53.02 cents per $100 <br />valuation, which is the same rate adopted in 2015, which is higher than the <br />effective rate be approved. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Guerrero, Mayor Pro -Tem Thomaides, Council Member Prather, Deputy <br />Mayor Pro Tern Prewitt, Council Member Hughson, Council Member Derrick and <br />Council Member Gregson <br />Against: 0 <br />21. Discuss and consider adoption of City Council goals, by motion, and provide direction <br />to Staff. <br />A motion was made by Mayor Guerrero, seconded by Mayor Pro -Tem <br />Thomaides, that this be postponed. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Guerrero, Mayor Pro -Tem Thomaides, Council Member Prather, Deputy <br />Mayor Pro Tern Prewitt, Council Member Hughson, Council Member Derrick and <br />Council Member Gregson <br />Against: 0 <br />22. Consider the Public Hearing Dates proposed by Staff regarding the 2016 Property Tax <br />Rate and Fiscal Year 2016 -2017 Budget, and provide direction to Staff. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Gregson, seconded by Council <br />Member Hughson, that the public hearing dates on the budget, tax rate and <br />utility rates on September 6 and 16 be approved. The motion carried by the <br />following vote: <br />For: 6 - Mayor Guerrero, Council Member Prather, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Prewitt, Council <br />Member Hughson, Council Member Derrick and Council Member Gregson <br />Against: 0 <br />Absent: 1 - Mayor Pro -Tem Thomaides <br />VI.
