City Council Meeting Minutes July 5, 2017 <br />Mr. Caldwell reviewed our Ordinance vs Austin's Ordinance and explained how <br />ours contains the State Health Code and Austin only enforces it. Staff examined <br />the City of Galveston as well, they defer to the County Health Department, and <br />they enforce the State Health Code. <br />Staff will work with legal regarding the wording of mopping and cleaning the areas <br />to accommodate for facilities that do not have concrete flooring. Council <br />provided consensus on the following, but would also like <br />Staff to meet with each establishment to have a pre -variance meeting and <br />follow-up meetings as necessary: <br />• Remove the limitation of no dogs allowed within 7' of the door. <br />• Require a sign indicating the rules be placed on the patio at or near the dog <br />entrance inside and outside of the patio. <br />• Require that food establishments requesting the variance include a sample form <br />for employees to sign indicating that they have been trained on the rules regarding <br />dog dining. <br />• Require food establishments to have a training program related to dog dining <br />that is completed once a year and for each new employee within 14 days of hire. <br />• Require that the forms signed by employees be available upon request during <br />inspections or investigations of complaints. <br />VI.
