RESOLUTION NO. 2017-137R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF • <br /> SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, PROVIDING PUBLIC <br /> RECOGNITION OF VOTES NOT PREVIOUSLY COUNTED <br /> OR INCLUDED IN THE OFFICIAL CANVASS OF THE <br /> GENERAL ELECTION, HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 2016, FOR <br /> THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING A MAYOR, CITY COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER, PLACE ONE, CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE <br /> TWO, AND THE CONCURRENT SPECIAL ELECTION TO <br /> FILL A VACANCY FOR THE ONE YEAR REMAINDER OF <br /> THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF CITY COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> PLACE THREE; AND PROVIDING AN EFECTIVE DATE <br /> RECITALS: <br /> 1. On August 16, 2016 the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2016-32 ordering a general <br /> and special election to be held on November 8, 2016 for the purpose of electing a Mayor, City <br /> Council Member, Place One, City Council Member, Place Two, and to fill a vacancy for the one <br /> year remainder of the unexpired term of City Council Member, Place Three. <br /> 2. The City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas convened on November 21, 2016 to <br /> consider the returns of the General and Special election held on November 8, 2016. Council <br /> approved Ordinance No. 2016-53 on that date as the official canvass of the election returns. <br /> 3. At the time of the official canvass, the City Council was not aware that votes cast in a <br /> Mobile Ballot Box had not been tallied. <br /> 3. On February 22, 2016 Hays County Elections Administrator, Jennifer Anderson, released <br /> a statement regarding the discovery of one Mobile Ballot Box that was not tallied in the <br /> November 8, 2016 election. <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. The City Council of the City of San Marcos hereby publicly recognizes the <br /> previously uncounted votes cast in the November 8, 2016 election and further recognizes the <br /> new unofficial vote totals resulting from inclusion of those vote as follows: <br /> 1 <br />
