She stated that a system of transparency and accountability is <br /> crucial.A citizen police review board would reduce prejudice and would open <br /> communication between law enforcement and citizens. Citizen Police Review <br /> Boards have been established in larger cities such as Austin and San Antonio. <br /> A successful board would represent the citizens and police that equally <br /> represents our diverse community and law enforcement. This board would <br /> need to be balanced and show no partiality. Faith and confidence would be <br /> restored among the community. This bill is divisive and polarizing. The <br /> NAACP and League of Women's Voters urged the Council to create the <br /> Citizen Police Review Board. <br /> CONSENT AGENDA <br /> A motion was made by Mayor Thomaides, seconded by Council Member <br /> Gregson,to approve the Consent Agenda with the exception of the July 31, <br /> 2017 and August 1,2017 City Council Meeting Minutes,which will be brought <br /> back at the next Regular City Council Meeting for consideration.
