Two positions of Police Officer in the Police Department are added <br />in accordance with Section 2.373 of the San Marcos City Code and Section 143.021 of the <br />Texas Local Government Code. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. The table of positions for each Civil Service Classification in the Police <br />and Fire Departments kept on file in the City Secretary's office is amended to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Classification <br /> <br />Number of Positions <br /> <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Police Officer (including trainees) <br />Police Corporal <br />Police Sergeant <br />Police Captain <br />Assistant Chief of Police <br /> <br />32 <br />18 <br />9 <br />4 <br />1 <br /> <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Firefighters (including trainees) <br />Driver/Engineer <br />Fire Lieutenant <br />Fire Captain <br />Assistant Fire Chief <br /> <br />9 <br />12 <br />6 <br />3 <br />1 <br /> <br />SECTION 3. The 1996-97 Budget of the City of San Marcos is amended as shown <br />on the attached Exhibit A in order to provide funding for the purchase of two vehicles for <br />the Police Department, and the budget is also amended to revised the authorized <br />personnel tables in the Police Patrol Division in conformity with Section 1 above. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance <br />is held to be unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the other <br />provisions of this ordinance will continue in force if they can be given effect without the <br />invalid portion. <br /> <br />SECTION 5. All ordinances and resolutions or parts of ordinances or resolutions in <br />conflict with this ordinance are repealed. <br /> <br />SECTION 6. This Ordinance will take effect 10 days after the date of its final <br />passage, and the City Secretary will publish notice of its adoption in a newspaper of <br />general circulation in the City. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED on first reading June 23, 1997. <br />
