ORDINANCE NO. 2017-57 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING SECTION 2.370.25 OF THE SAN <br /> MARCOS CITY CODE TO AMEND THE MEETING SCHEDULE OF THE <br /> SAN MARCOS YOUTH COMMISSION; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br /> PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> SECTION 1. Section 2.370.25 of the San Marcos City Code is hereby amended to read as <br /> follows (Deleted text is indicated by strikethroughs and added text is indicated by underlining.): <br /> Sec. 2.075. Duties; meetings; reports. <br /> (a) The commission shall have the following duties and functions: <br /> (1) Represent the voices of youth in the community and advise elected <br /> officials and other policy makers about issues affecting and of <br /> interest to youth. <br /> (2) Provide leadership and represent the diverse needs and goals of <br /> young people in the community. <br /> (3) Serve as a bridge to connect the work of public entities including the <br /> city, county, the school district, and the university to support young <br /> people more effectively. <br /> (4) Provide a structure for youth to learn the value of civic participation <br /> and thereby create lifelong invested citizens. <br /> (5) Offer policy-making recommendations on issues affecting youth. <br /> (6) Provide outreach to San Marcos teens and inform them of existing <br /> opportunities and listen to suggestions on how the community can <br /> improve youth-oriented efforts. <br /> (7) Provide input on community issues coming before the city council <br /> and school board. <br /> (8) Identify youth issues that need community attention. <br /> (9) Perform tasks and work on projects of the San Marcos Commission <br /> on Children and Youth. <br /> (b) The commission shall meet monthly a minimum of eight times per <br /> year. <br />
