Call To Order With a quorum present,the governance workshop of the San Marcos City Council was called to order by Mayor Thomaides at 8:12 a.m. Thursday, January 18,2018 in the private dining room at Embassy Suites by Hilton San Marcos Hotel Conference Center,1001 E McCarty Ln,San Marcos,TX 78666. II. Roll Call Council Members Gonzales and Mihalkanin were absent due to employment obligations. Present: 5- Mayor Pro Tem Lisa Prewitt, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Scott Gregson,Council Member Melissa Derrick, Council Member Jane Hughson and Mayor John Thomaides Absent: 2- Council Member Saul Gonzales and Council Member Ed Mihalkanin 1. Executive Session in accordance with Section §551.074 - Personnel Matters: to discuss the duties of Public Officers, to wit: the members of the San Marcos City Council. A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Gregson, seconded by Council Member Hughson, to enter Closed Session in accordance with Section §551.074-Personnel Matters: to discuss the duties of Public Officers, to wit: the members of the San Marcos City Council. The motion carried by the following vote: For: 5- Mayor Pro Tern Prewitt, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Gregson, Council Member Derrick, Council Member Hughson and Mayor Thomaides Against: 0 Absent: 2- Council Member Gonzales and Council Member Mihalkanin 2. Consider adoption or direction to Staff on matters discussed in Executive Session. The Council reconvened into Open Session at 4:45 p.m. Staff will provide the Council with next steps following receipt of Dr. Barry Bales' recommendation. Ill. Adjournment. City of San Marcos Page 1
