Call To Order <br /> With a quorum present,the special meeting of the San Marcos City Council <br /> was called to order by Mayor Thomaides at 4:33 p.m. Tuesday,February 6, <br /> 2018 in the City Hall Conference Room, 630 E. Hopkins,San Marcos,Texas <br /> 78666. <br /> II. Roll Call <br /> Present: 5- Mayor Pro Tern Lisa Prewitt, Council Member Saul Gonzales, Council Member <br /> Melissa Derrick, Mayor John Thomaides and Council Member Ed Mihalkanin <br /> Absent: 2- Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott Gregson and Council Member Jane Hughson <br /> 1. Receive a presentation and hold discussion regarding provision of dockless bike sharing <br /> services in San Marcos. <br /> Bert Lumbreras,City Manager, introduced the item and provided information <br /> related to a potential partnership with Texas State University related to <br /> alternate modes of transportation,and introduced Kevin Burke,Economic <br /> Development and Downtown Administrator,who provided the presentation. <br /> Mr. Burke provided a presentation related to a dockless bike share program. <br /> He provided the benefits and risks to the additional mode of transportation. <br /> He provided that Staff has drafted a joint REP (request for proposals)with <br /> Texas State University and explained that preference would be given to any <br /> vendor that committed to utilizing a local bicycle repair shop. <br /> Mr. Burke provided the next steps regarding issuing the joint RFP, reviewing <br /> and awarding the contract, entering into an Interlocal agreement with Texas <br /> State and then explained that vendor service would begin. Council consensus <br /> was to move forward with the RFP process. <br /> Mr. Lumbreras provided that we do not want to see what has happened in <br /> other Cities to happen here. That is why he wants to review the vendors <br /> performance within that first 6-months of operation. <br /> City of San Marcos Page 1 <br />
