J ".f
August 30, 1999
Dr. Jerome Supple
Southwest Texas State University
601 University Drive
San Marcos, Texas 78666-4615
Dear Dr. Supple:
The San Marcos City Council accepts your decision to withdraw from contract
negotiations regarding replacement of the Comanche Wells to accommodate the future
Art/ Technology/ Physics Complex.
Our first allegiance must be to the citizens and taxpayers of San Marcos. This community
has been engaged for more than a decade in making exceptionally difficult decisions
about our future water resources. We have made costly investments in the endeavor to
establish secure water supplies for the 21 S` Century. Our citizens have supported these
investments despite the substantial additional expense it has placed on every individual
and business in this city.
Potentially risking significant resources such as the Comanche Wells obviously has
concerned the City Council, reflecting the importance of our water supply as well as the
urgent concerns of our residents. We have devoted scores of additional hours and many
special meetings to resolve the vital issues at stake.
We look forward to your success with this important project utilizing an alternative
design.
Sincerely,
Members of the City Council
City Hall • 630 East Hopkins • San Marcos, Texas 78666 • 512/353-4444 • FAX 512/396-4656
