City secretary means the person who holds the position of city secretary. <br /> Contractor means any individual, partnership, association, or corporation <br /> engaged in the business of installing or altering facilities within a public right-of- <br /> way. This term applies to any entity which represents itself to be engaged in this <br /> business, whether or not it is actually doing the work. <br /> Curb means a vertical or sloping structure located along the edge of a <br /> roadway, normally constructed integrally with the gutter, which strengthens and <br /> protects the pavement edge and clearly defines the pavement edge to vehicle <br /> operators. <br /> Curb cut means an opening in a curb to allow the roadway pavement to <br /> meet the pavement of a driveway approach or an intersecting roadway, or, where <br /> no physical curb exists, the length along the roadway edge where the transitional <br /> pavement exists or is proposed. <br /> Director of public works services means the person who holds the position <br /> of director of the city public works services division. <br /> Driveway approach means the transitional pavement between the roadway <br /> and abutting property, installed in a curb cut to provide vehicular access from the <br /> roadway to the abutting property. <br /> Engineer means a person duly authorized under the Texas Engineering <br /> Registration Act,as amended,to practice the profession of engineering. <br /> Gutter means the area of pavement adjacent to a curb,designed to transport <br /> stormwater runoff along a roadway. <br /> Inlet means an opening in a curb and/or gutter designed to intercept <br /> stormwater runoff flowing along a gutter. <br /> Intersection means the common area contained between the projected edge <br /> line of two or more roadways which join at any angle, whether or not one street <br /> actually crosses the other. <br /> Pedestrian way means a portion of a right-of-way, not on the roadway, <br /> usable for pedestrian traffic. <br /> Right-of-way means the publicly owned area between private property lines <br /> designated as an easement for a roadway, whether or not the roadway is actually <br /> installed. <br /> Roadway means that portion of the right-of-way designed and ordinarily <br /> used for vehicular travel, usually surfaced with a pavement. <br />
