Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present <br />With a quorum present, the Workshop of the San Marcos City Council was called to order by <br />Mayor Susan Narvaiz at 6:03 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 in the Council Chambers of the <br />City of San Marcos City Hall, 630 East Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas 78666. <br />3. Discussion on the proposed Fiscal Year 2009-2010 Budget and provide direction to staff. <br />City Manager Rick Menchaca presented the proposed Fiscal Year 2009-2010 Budget, totaling <br />$145.5 million. This budget includes strategic planning, a sound financial plan, analyzing <br />performance, and maintaining infrastructure while focusing on the City Council's vision and <br />goals. <br />The City Council reviewed General Fund department budgets. Items the City Council wants to <br />discuss further are: 1) Neighborhood Liaison position for FY 2011 (Neighborhood Services); 2) <br />• way finding and dollars for speed calming devices (Traffic Division); 3) Pay-as-you-throw and <br />compostable recycling (Public Services); 4) marketing dollars for library (Library); 5) creation of <br />Wkshp081109 Minutes Page 1
