<br />66 <br /> <br />Special Meeting <br /> <br />June 2, 1998 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />AYE: Mihalkanin, Hughson, Doiron, Moore, Moseley, Hernandez. <br /> <br />NAY: None. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: Cox. <br /> <br />Mayor Moore introduced the election of the Deputy Mayor Pro-Tempore. <br />Mr. Hernandez moved for the election of Jane Hughson as Deputy Mayor <br />Pro-Tempore and Mr. Mihalkanin seconded the motion. On roll call <br />the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Mihalkanin, Doiron, Moore, Moseley, Cox, Hernandez. <br /> <br />NAY: None. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: Hughson. <br /> <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval to schedule a City <br />Council Orientation Workshop (Quarterly Workshop) and City <br />Facilities Tour for Thursday, June 25 and Friday, June 26, 1998 from <br />9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Mr. Gilley advised the Council this meeting <br />was proposed to be for the entire Council as a continuation of the <br />Budget Policy Workshop held with facilitator Ms. Robina Jackson, a <br />review of City projects and programs underway and a tour of City <br />faciliti~s. Mr. Gilley stated Staff would like to hold an <br />additional Orientation Workshop with the new Council Members, <br />possibly as soon as next week, and that all Council Members are <br />invited to attend if they would like to do so. Mr. Hernandez moved <br />to approve the June 25 and 26 Workshop dates and Mr. Mihalkanin <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration an expenditure from the <br />General Fund Contingency Funds in the amount of $5,000.00 for the <br />LBJ Museum. Mr. Mihalkanin stated he has no financial interest but <br />does serve as a Board Member, so he left the Chambers during this <br />item. Mr. Hernandez moved for approval of the expenditure from <br />General Fund Contingency Funds in the amount of $5,000.00 and Mr. <br />Cox seconded the motion. Mr. Hernandez suggested Staff look at <br />funding this from some other funding, such as hotel/motel money, at <br />a later time if the money is available in another fund. John Cooper <br />advised the Council the LBJ Museum needs to show community support, <br />and the City's contribution will do so. He advised SWT has not made <br />a financial commitment but SWT Staff have been involved in this <br />undertaking and will donate items, such as a desk, chair and flag. <br />On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Hughson, Doiron, Moore, Moseley, Cox, Hernandez. <br /> <br />NAY: None. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: Mihalkanin. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Hernandez <br />and seconded by Ms. Hughson. <br /> <br />ZI tl!Il JI!&~\~ <br /> <br />Ed Mihalkanin <br />co~cil Member _ <br /> <br />~Yio:, Jr <br /> <br />Council Member <br /> <br /> <br />
