51 <br />Regular Meeting May 18, 1998 Page 5 <br />Commission next week and they will proceed until otherwise directed. Mr. Guerra stated he was <br />interested in the City owning and preserving that land. Melody Weise stated the neighborhood <br />would like to help with funding and perhaps receiving grants to protect the greenbelt. Mr. <br />Hernandez stated the Council has made efforts through the years to protect the river and other <br />greenbelt areas. Ms. Weise stated she appreciates the past efforts of the Council and hopes they <br />continue to protect the greenbelts for future generations. Liza Gardener thanked the Council for <br />their support in preserving the greenbelts. She stated Mr. Force's information was helpful to see <br />how the Schulle Canyon situation was incredibly mismanaged and would like the Council's <br />support in acquiring the property. Craig McFall encouraged the Council to protect Schulle <br />Canyon. The Council directed staff to agendize this item on June 8, 1998 and present the <br />Council with their options on the property. <br />Mayor Moore introduced the City Manager's Report. Mr. Gilley thanked Mr. Hart and Mr. <br />Guerra for their years of service. <br />Mayor Moore introduced the City Attorney's Report. Mr. Taylor had no report at this meeting. <br />Mayor Moore introduced the City Council's Report. Ms. Hughson asked if the City applied for <br />anything regarding the CAPCO Solid Waste Grant.
