ORDINANCE NO.2018-48 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 3 — BOARDS, <br /> COMMITTEES AND COMMISSIONS, OF THE SAN MARCOS CITY <br /> CODE BY AMENDING SECTION 2.072 TO PROVIDE TERMS OF <br /> OFFICE FOR CITY BOARD AND COMMISSION MEMBERS AND <br /> ADDING A NEW SECTION 2.073 THAT REQUIRES SUCH BOARDS AND <br /> COMMISSIONS TO ADOPT A STANDARD SET OF BYLAWS; <br /> INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br /> TEXAS: <br /> SECTION 1. Sections 2.072 and 2.073 of the San Marcos City Code pertaining to Boards, <br /> Committees and Commissions are hereby amended to read as follows (Added text is indicated by <br /> underlining. Deleted text is indicated by otrikeHxeugbs.): <br /> Sec. 2.072. Appointments. <br /> (a) Appointments to all city boards and commissions whose membership is <br /> wholly appointed by the city council shall be in February of each year with terms <br /> to commence March 1 unless otherwise provided in the ordinance, resolution or <br /> other law governing a board or commission. <br /> (b) Appointments to fill vacancies may be made at any time,and will be for <br /> the unexpired term. <br /> (c) Except as otherwise provided in this subsection, the term of office for <br /> all board and commission members is three (3) years and shall be effective for any <br /> term beginning on or after March 1, 2019. Any member appointed prior to March <br /> 1,2018 shall complete their term as originally appointed. This provision shall only <br /> apply to boards and commissions created and regulated by city ordinance. The term <br /> of office for members of the San Marcos Youth Commission shall remain at a term <br /> of one (1) year. <br /> Sec.2.073. Bylaws. <br /> (a) All boards and commissions created and/or regulated by city charter or <br /> ordinance will adopt and adhere to a standard set of bylaws that are approved by <br /> the city council. <br /> (b) A board or commission may request amendment(s) to their bylaws by <br /> submitting an approved recommendation to the Council Finance and Audit <br /> Committee for consideration. <br /> 1 <br />
