EXISTING SYSTEM <br />PERFORMANCE MEASURE: <br />INTERSECTION OPERATIONS <br />Level of service (LOS) is the standard <br />performance measure used to evaluate <br />vehicular traffic conditions at intersections. <br />LOS measures the effect a number of factors can <br />have on operating conditions. <br />Factors that can affect LOS include: <br />o Speed <br />o Volume of traffic and freedom to maneuver <br />o Geometric features <br />o Traffic interruptions <br />o Safety <br />o Driving comfort and convenience <br />Vehicular LOS helped to determine where safety <br />and roadway deficiencies need to be addressed. <br />Improvements to several intersections were <br />identified as short-term enhancements <br />that could have an immediate impact on <br />vehicular mobility.
