Ev0 1 '1 _ _ 0 <br />AlFsk <br />BEST PRACTICES <br />Implementing best practices that are shown to help improve safety and enhance <br />connectivity for all modes, reduce congestion and manage travel demand can help <br />to create a well planned, effective transportation network. <br />The following section discusses Best Practices the City of San Marcos can <br />incorporate in their planning and design process for the transportation network. <br />Incorporate national best practices in the planning and design process. <br />OBJECTNE <br />Maximize transportation efficiency throughout the network and to key <br />land uses. <br />- <br />o Utilize travel demand management to improve the overall efficiency of <br />the travel network. <br />o Expand way -finding systems implement dynamic message signs <br />to reduce congestion by providing routing information to major <br />destinations. <br />o Utilize access management techniques to develop safer streets and a <br />more attractive transportation network. <br />o Implement intelligent transportation system technologies to manage <br />traffic demands. <br />o Promote ridesharing to reduce vehicular trips on the transportation <br />network. <br />
