The Council voted <br />unanimously for approval of the Change Order. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration Item 33 removed from the consent <br />agenda, approval of a proposal to consider a property tax rate of <br />$0.4860/$100.00, and to schedule a public hearing on this proposed tax <br />rate on August 27, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers at City Hall, <br />630 E. Hopkins Street. Ms. Tatum moved for approval and Ms. Hughson <br />seconded the motion. Ms. Hughson stated she thought it would be important <br />to point out the Council is to consider a proposed tax rate and schedule a <br />public hearing at the next Regular Meeting, August 27. The Council then <br />voted unanimously for approval to consider the proposed tax rate and to <br />schedule the public hearing on August 27. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Council's Report. (1) Mr. Mayhew <br />referenced the comments made by Will Thompson earlier in the meeting <br />regarding downtown revitalization and the Sector 8 process. He stated he <br />would be in favor of allowing sufficient time for dialogue to occur, even <br />if it meant the Sector 8 process being delayed. (2) Ms. Hughson asked for <br />a status report to be provided on the San Marcos River Corridor Ordinance <br />and the changes submitted by the Development Ordinance Review Task Force. <br />(3) Ms. Hughson stated she wants any Resolutions to be submitted to Texas <br />Municipal League to be agendized, including providing planning authority <br />to Counties. (4) Ms. Hughson stated the agenda for the Fall Texas <br />Municipal League conference is now available, and she recommends the <br />Council discuss what sessions each plans to attend in order to receive as <br />much information as possible. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the Government <br />Code, Section 551.071, to seek the City Attorney's advice regarding San <br />Marcos River Foundation Water Rights Permit Application; Sections 551.072 <br />and 551.073, to discuss purchase of real property (Wonder World Drive <br />Extension Area); and Section 551.074, to discuss the duties of public <br />employees (City Manager/Planning Director) - Annexation Review Plan <br />Implementation; Fire Department staffing. Ms. Hughson moved the Council <br />adjourn into Executive Session at 8:44 p.m. and Mr. Montoya seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Mihalkanin moved the Council reconvene at 9:53 p.m. and Mr. Montoya <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:54 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Mihalkanin and <br />seconded by Ms. Tatum. <br /> <br /> <br />David Chiu <br />Mayor <br />
