Ms. Hughson moved to <br />remove the Ordinance from the table, for adoption of the Ordinance on <br />third and final reading, and to amend the Ordinance to incorporate the <br />amendment edits provided by the City Attorney by memorandum dated May 24, <br />2001 and to further amend 94.233(d) as follows, ". . If the planning <br />director determines that proposed modifications substantially impact <br />compliance with the approved PDD, whether individually or cumulatively, <br />the director will deny the request for approval.," and Mr. Mayhew <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Council's Report. (1) Mr. Mayhew <br />referenced Flag Day would be June 14, and the Sesquicentennial Committee <br />has suggested everyone with a flag should fly them often this year. (2) <br />Mr. Cox referenced a meeting he had with Mayor Chiu regarding attendance <br />at meetings in connection with transportation issues, and one in <br />particular to lobby for transportation funds. Mr. Cox stated he thought <br />it would be important for Mayor Chiu to attend such meetings and expenses <br />may be charged to the Economic Development line item. It was consensus of <br />Council for the Mayor to do so. Mr. Cox stated the meeting will be in <br />regard to changes occurring by the Congress regardingtransportation. The <br />Council indicated they want the City to be represented in these matters. <br />(3) Ms. Hughson stated the Council needs an agenda item to discuss the tax <br />rate before the budget is finalized, and Mr. Gilley will address this item <br />at the June 25 Council Meeting. (4) Mayor Chiu stated he is working on a <br />task force with Austin Community College, and they are in need of citizen <br />input on some issues and asked if the survey could be placed in the <br />Activity Center. ACC will now offer through the San Marcos Consolidated <br />Independent School District 20 hours of transferable credit at no cost to <br />the school district or students. ACC is considering bringing more ACC <br />classes to San Marcos over the next few years. In addition to night <br />classes, they might expand their program at the school district to include <br />day classes and a workforce certification. (5) Mayor Chiu mentioned the <br />Summer Fun Program and the movies that will be shown at the San Marcos <br />Plaza stage on Mondays. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the Government <br />Code, Section 551.071, to seek the City Attorney's advice regarding <br />pending litigation (Gary vs. City of San Marcos). Ms. Hughson moved the <br />Council adjourn at 8:27 p.m. and Mr. Mihalkanin seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Mihalkanin moved the Council reconvene at 8:58 p.m. and Mr. Mayhew <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 8:59 p.m. on motion made by Ms. Tatum and <br />seconded by Mr. Mayhew. <br />
