(College Admissions Made Possible)—The TXSTperience C.A.M.P is a 4 -day long day camp <br />focused on educati ng stude nts about Texas State University, ourSan Marcos River, environmentally sensitive ecology, <br />but is also focused on educating students about the resources avai lable to students at Texas State to support academic <br />success. The camp will also include workshops focused on interviewskills, resume and essay writi ng, navigatingthe <br />financial aid process, and otherobstacles often encountered by first -generation college students and those of limited <br />financial resources. <br />How they will measure program success: The TXSTperience evaluation will utilize SMARgoals to measure program <br />success. The post -camp surveywill be specific, measurable, attainable, and realistic. Focused on participants acquiring <br />knowledge related to environmentallysensitive featuresfound in ourcommunity, newly acquired knowledgeabout <br />resources available at Texas State University focused on student support services and resources, and the possessing of <br />skills deemed beneficial for problem solving, team building, and writing and drafting effective essays and resumes. <br />Priority Areas that this program willfulfill: Outcome/GOAL3- San Marcos will have a college and careerready <br />workforce capable of attracting industrytoimprove economic development and quality of life. <br />1. Increase high school graduation rates <br />2. Establish longterm research of 8th grade postsecondary plans <br />3. Increase AP -Dual credit coursework and diversification of AP students <br />4. Establish Early College Academy/High School models <br />5. Present letters of acceptance from post -secondary institution (2year, 4year) <br />6. Improve access and participation in "Bobcat Promise" <br />7. Get up to 60% high school tocollege admission rates <br />8. Improve college graduation rate of students from SMCISD <br />9. Advocate for local jobs that pay more than livingwage <br />Goalsforthe program: Educate high school aged students in San Marcos about Texas State University, ourSan Marcos <br />River, the environmentally sensitive ecology, but isalsofocusedoneducating students aboutthe resources available to <br />students at Texas State to support academic success.
