Teen Center Program operates daily Monday— Fridayfrom 3pm — 6:30pm and on select weekends particularly 2nd & <br />4th Saturdaysfrom 10am —2pm. <br />Goalsforthe program: Goalsforthis program is to continue to provide CityofSan Marcos teens a safe place to gather <br />followingthe hours after school and on weekends to have fun, dohomeworkand participate inavarietyof activities <br />centered around core subject areas of Character & Leadership, Career& Education, Healthy Lifestyles, The Arts and <br />Sports& Recreation. Ourgoal isto establish regularteen participation of35teens, ages 11-18, visitingthe centerat <br />minimum 2times perweek. <br />How wi I I they know they met these goals: The funds allocated forthis grant will be utilized to staff the Teen Center and <br />assist with programmatic costs associated with the program. The award of City fundi ng wi I I he Ip to remove <br />programmatic barriers of cost for participants to provide more focus on Teen recruitment encouraging families with <br />teensto participate atthe Teen Centeras a memberof the Boys & Girls Club. We will knowthatthe goal forthis <br />program is met upon registration of 35 or more teens and theirweekly tracked attendance. Registration forthe Teen <br />Centerprogram is conducted online through a Parent/Guardian Portal and providesweekly attendance tracking. <br />Numberof clients served yearly: 100 Numberof direct clients served ONLY in San Marcos: 50 <br />Amount Requested: $5,000 Commission on Children and Youth Recommendation: $3,200 <br />CommunityAction, Inc. <br />Texas Home Visiting Program, Fatherhood Initiative —The Texas Home Visiting Program grant, operated bythe <br />Department of Family and Protective Services and funded by Senate Bill 426, was awarded to Community Action, Inc. of <br />Central Texas in May of 2015. Texas Home Visiting Program supports communities in operating evidence -based home <br />visiting programs while creating a coordinated, comprehensive system of services for pregnant women, young children <br />and theirfamilies. Texas Home Visiting provides services to 160 families residing in Hays County in San Marcos, Kyle, <br />Buda and Wimberley. Services include biweekly/monthly 90 -minute home visits. Together, the family and parent <br />educators plan developmental activitiesto do with the children during home visits. All enrolled families have access to <br />information and supportfrom the Father Engagement Coordinator; who worksto inform families, staff and community <br />aboutthe positive effectsof father engagement on child's long life success. <br />How they will measure program success: Program success is measured by numberof fathers participating in Father <br />Engagement workshops and centerand community events. The program aggregates school readiness data foreach child <br />participating in the program, measuringeach child'sgain across all developmental domains. This data is compared with <br />father/fatherfigureand otherfamily member's level of engagement inthe program and child's education. Fathers in our <br />Texas Home Visiting Program also complete an annual Father Engagement Scale surveyto measure how involved they <br />are as a Father. From the time fathersfirst enterthe programto one yearlater, we can seethe amountof growth the <br />father had in his efforts. <br />Priority Areas that this program willfulfill: Outcome/Goal 3- San Marcos will have acollege and career ready workforce <br />capable of attracting industrytoimprove economic development and quality oflife. <br />Goalsforthe program: -To provide fami lies with the skillsthey need to help theirchildren 0-5 become readyto enter <br />Kindergarten. -To increase father involvement in the families we serve. —to improve the referral system in Hays County. <br />How will they know they met these goals: By aggregating school readiness data on an ongoing basis: assessing each <br />child gain across all developmental domains, measuring parent/fatherand communityengagement. We are currently <br />tracing fatherinvolvementin ourdatabase and will be able to seethe increase in father involvementfromthe beginning <br />to the end of the fundi ng year and measure child developmental outcome. <br />Numberof clients served yearly: 300 children Numberof direct clients served ONLY in San Marcos: 291 <br />
