YOUTH PROGRAMS <br /> • Goal:POST at Miller Middle School.Texas State <br /> University's Recreational Administration students lead <br /> games for Miller Middle School students after they finish <br /> their homework. <br /> • SLOEP(Spring Lake Outdoor Education Program) <br /> for Goodnight Middle School Students.Texas State <br /> University's Recreational Administration students lead this <br /> program for Goodnight Middle School students. <br /> • L.E.G.I.T.Summer Internship Program.Summer <br /> internships are offered to San Marcos High School <br /> sophomores and juniors.Students get on-the-job training <br /> and the opportunity to work in real world situations. <br /> They acquire work-related skills,soft skills,and workforce <br /> knowledge. <br /> • Best Friends For Life(BFFL).Texas State University's <br /> Therapeutic Recreation graduate students lead an <br /> assortment of activities including drumming,yoga,crafts, <br /> swimming,and at times, horseback riding. <br /> • San Marcos Homeschoolers.The Parks and Recreation <br /> Department, in conjunction with the San Marcos <br /> Homeschoolers group, provide physical education and <br /> enhancement opportunities for area homeschool students. <br /> SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAMS <br /> Dances for Adults With Disabilities is a themed dance party with <br /> DJ music and door prizes for adults with disabilities.This is a free <br /> event that takes place every other month at the San Marcos Activity <br /> Center. Participants who require assistance must have an escort. <br /> TRAVEL GROUP <br /> Both family and adult-only travel trips are offered by the City of San <br /> Marcos Parks and Recreation Department.Adult only trips are for <br /> ages 18 and older(or 21 and older for the casino trips). Family trips <br /> are for anyone over the age of five years.
