Past Planning Initiatives <br /> Vision San Marcos: A River Runs <br /> Through Us (2016) F.. <br /> In 2016, after a year of development, Vision San <br /> • <br /> Marcos:A River Runs Through Us was adopted by the <br /> City of San Marcos.This comprehensive planning t\ <br /> document was intended to guide the growth and ► <br /> development of the City while maintaining its .74111k. <br /> cherished natural resources and resident quality of ; r <br /> life.A unique feature of this planning document is the <br /> Preferred Scenario Map. Vision Son Marcos <br /> The document was divided into six plan elements: A RIVER RUNS THROUGH US <br /> Economic Development; Environment and <br /> Resource Protection; Land Use; Neighborhoods and <br /> Housing; Parks; Public Spaces and Facilities; and <br /> Transportation. <br /> Under each plan element are the Vision, Goals, and <br /> Objectives.The Vision Statement defined community <br /> values,which resulted from public involvement and <br /> was meant to provide direction for the future of <br /> San Marcos.The Goals Statement then established <br /> general parameters on how to accomplish the vision, <br /> and the Objectives Statement,which was more <br /> detailed in nature,further explored how to achieve <br /> each goal. <br /> San Marcos Parks Master Plan (2010) <br /> The previous version of the San Marcos Parks, City of San Marcos <br /> Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan was adopted Parks,Recreation&Open Space <br /> in 2010. It was intended to update the previously Master Plan <br /> completed 2002 plan.The planning horizon covered <br /> the period from 2010 until today. <br /> According to the previous plan,five specific needs a! <br /> were identified: <br /> 1. Acquisition of park land and development of -V <br /> facilities in the southwest quadrant of the ETJ <br /> • <br /> 3.
