<br />108. <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />November 15, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of four appointments to <br />the Convention and Visitors Bureau Board. Mr. Cox stated he received a <br />call from Gloria Salazar, who was representing the Hispanic Chamber on <br />this Board. She was leaving town and unable to attend this meeting. Mr. <br />Cox requested a legal determination from Mr. Taylor if the Hispanic <br />Chamber could request appointment for Ms. Salazar to the CVB after <br />absences occurred, and Mr. Taylor advised they could if they chose to do <br />so, as the Council actually makes the appointment. Mayor Chiu stated he <br />would like to have a discussion at the next meeting regarding the absentee <br />policy. Mr. Cox stated perhaps it could be discussed at one of the City <br />Council's January or February scheduled Workshops. Ms. Hughson stated the <br />absentee policy does not fit the subject matters of January and February. <br />Mr. Mihalkanin stated he would like to nominate Linda Kelsey Jones, Arts <br />Community. It was direction of Council to schedule the absentee policy <br />discussion at the November 26 meeting. The appointments to the Convention <br />and Visitors Bureau Board will be rescheduled. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first <br />reading, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING DIVISION 6 OF ARTICLE 3 OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CITY CODE TO <br />CHANGE THE NAME OF THE CITIZEN REVIEW COMMISSION TO THE SUNSET <br />ADVISORY COMMISSION; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. <br /> <br />Ms. Hughson moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. <br />Mayhew seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first <br />reading, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING THE RELEASE OF AN ELECTRICAL EASEMENT ON A 59 ACRE, MORE OR <br />LESS, TRACT OF REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY FIVE TREE, LIMITED LOCATED IN <br />THE 1800 BLOCK OF RANCH ROAD 12; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />EXECUTE A RELEASE OF THE EASEMENT; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br />PROVISIONS. <br /> <br />Mr. Mayhew moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Ms. <br />Tatum seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Ms. Hughson stated <br />for the record neither she nor her family has any financial dealings with <br />this property. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the Government <br />Code, Section 551.071, to seek the City Attorney's advice regarding the <br />Southwest San Marcos annexation. Mr. Mihalkanin moved to table Executive <br />Session until after the consent agenda and Mr. Mayhew seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br />
