Womack <br />City Attorney * Mark Taylor <br />Assistant City Attorney Sherri Russell <br />Fire Chief Dan O'Leary <br /> <br />Also Present: Sarah Alvarez, Francis Serna, Collette Duran, Jeff Kester, <br />Ron Jager, Merlin Evans, Ralph Gonzales, Mark Minnick, Larry Sowards, Phil <br />Neighbors, John Schnautz, Johnny James, William DeSoto, Melissa Millecam, <br />Stacye Wilson, Gwen Smith, Rose Brooks, John Thomaides and others. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the citizen comment period. Nathan Todd stated the <br />aquifer level was below 650' and the City should make Stage 2 effective <br />for water conservation. He stated he drove by the SWT campus today and <br />they were watering lawns at 3:00 p.m. He wants the City to talk with them <br />about water conservation. Nasim Mullen of the Bahai Youth Group, stated <br />they were concerned about the future of the world. She stated wonderful <br />things occurred in the 20th Century and with existing technology the world <br />is more connected and has more potential. They want all of humanity to <br />come together and want the leaders of thought to work to improve the lives <br />of all the world. They provided copies of "Who is Writing the Future?" to <br />the Council and staff members. Rev. Herman Foster stated Mayor Chiu has <br />introduced a concept for social services. Mayor Chiu has discussed the <br />possibility of Lamar Middle School (Lamar Central Annex), and Rev. Foster <br />thinks it is a great idea but the City needs to look at a location on the <br />South side of town for that type of concept. The people on the South side <br />of town could benefit the most from the social services being located on <br />the South side. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of two appointments to <br />the Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals. There were no nominations <br />and this will be rescheduled. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of two appointments to <br />the Citizen Review Commission. Mr. Mayhew moved to appoint Carmen Imel, <br />which passed unanimously. The remaining appointment will be rescheduled. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to the <br />Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Mr. Doiron moved to appoint Tom <br />Roach, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to the <br />Economic Development Council. Mayor Chiu moved to appoint Martha Tatum, <br />Council Member, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration adoption of a Resolution, the <br />caption which was read as follows: <br />
