<br />186. <br />Regular Meeting August 28, 2000 Page 6 <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />Mr. Mayhew stated he was against this agreement because the Tanger Outlet advertising only <br />benefits cities such as Dallas, Houston, and Mexico. He also stated the Council's budget <br />workshop did not include an advertising program with Tanger Outlet and the Council should not <br />change the process. Ms. Tatum stated the program is great as long as downtown San Marcos is <br />being advertised and maybe the Council needs to look into having a bus service to and from <br />downtown 'and the Outlet Mall. On the main motion the following vote was recorded: <br />AYE: Moseley, Chiu, Cox, Tatum. <br />NAY: Doiron, Hughson, Mayhew. <br />ABSTAIN: None. <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Manager's Report. Mr. Gilley stated he had no report at this <br />meeting. <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Attorney's Report. Mr. Taylor stated he had no report at this <br />meeting. <br />Mayor Chiu introduced the City Council's Report. Mr. Moseley stated on Thursday, August 31, <br />2000 at the Old Fish Hatchery there will be a Charles Austin Send-Off Celebration from 4:00 <br />p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Ms. Hughson stated she would like to have the minutes or reports of the Hays <br />County Mayors' Meetings or other similiar meetings. Mr. Cox stated with the Council's consent, <br />he wants to bring a discussion item to the September 11, 2000 Regular City Council Meeting <br />directing staff to rewrite the Zoning Ordinance to place duplexes under an unrelated category and <br />the Council agreed. Mr. Moseley stated he would like to have a workshop at the end of <br />September with Thermo-Tech, who uses solid waste sludge and turns it into agricultural project <br />uses. Ms. Hughson suggested that the topic be discussed in a general sense without emphasis on <br />anyone vendor. Mayor Chiu stated he would like a workshop with Southwest Security for a <br />proposal. <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration an Executive Session pursuant to the Government <br />Code, Section 551.086, to discuss commercial or financial information the City has received <br />from a business prospect with which the City is conducting economic development negotiations, <br />or to deliberate the offer of a financial or other incentive to such a business prospect <br />(development incentive request-South IH35 area).
