<br /> 57. <br /> Regular Meeting October 9, 2000 Page 9 <br /> Mayor Chiu introduced receiving and discussion of the final report of the <br /> Development Ordinance Review Task Force. The Task Force made eleven <br /> recommendations. Mr. Gilley stated they did a tremendous job in following <br /> the Council's recommendations and have provided a time line to accomplish <br /> these. Mr. Mayhew expressed his appreciation for the Task Force and <br /> Staff's many hours of work. Ms. Tatum asked the priority placed on the <br /> recommendations. Mr. Patterson stated how the time line was established <br /> and the priorities are the Edwards Aquifer and Subdivision Ordinances, and <br /> the remainder are the Ordinances Staff felt were most in need. Mr. Cox <br /> asked if the Task Force was now discharged. Mr. Gilley stated they have <br /> completed the work Council asked them to do, and if the Council is <br /> satisfied with the contents of the report and recommendations, Staff will <br /> go forward. Mr. Cox stated he thinks the report is thoughtful and a good <br /> guide. There was consensus to go forward with the report. Sherwood <br /> Bishop stated if one phrase had to be chosen to describe the work of the <br /> Task Force, it would be what is written on the top of Page 2 of the <br /> report, "We want to make sure that the San Marcos of the future is a very <br /> livable, beautiful, economically thriving, and environmentally sensitive <br /> communi t y". He stated San Marcos cannot remain a town in a vacuum. <br /> Building standards will be important. We will always need to look at what <br /> kind of City we want to be and what the outcome will be twenty and fifty <br /> years from now. <br /> Mayor Chiu introduced the City Manager's Report. Mr. Gilley had no report <br /> at this meeting. <br /> Mayor Chiu introduced the City Attorney's Report. Mr. Taylor had no <br /> report at this meeting. <br /> Mayor Chiu introduced the City Council's Report. (1) Mr. Moseley stated <br /> he wants tabs on the Council's agenda notebook. <br /> Mayor Chiu introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the Government <br /> Code, Section 551.071, to seek the City Attorney's advice regarding <br /> pending litigation, contemplated litigation or other matters (Gary vs. <br /> City of San Marcos; Lowman Ranch, Ltd. vs. Tanger Properties; Water <br /> Treatment Plant); and Sections 551.072 and 551.073, to discuss the <br /> purchase of real property (Bishop Street area); and negotiated contracts <br /> for prospective gifts or donations to the City (greenspace acquisition - <br /> Westover area). Mr. Moseley moved to adjourn into Executive Session at <br /> 9:51 p.m. and Mr. Mayhew seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> Mr. Moseley moved the Council reconvene at 11:00 p.m. and Mr. Mayhew <br /> seconded the motion, which passed unanimously (Mr. Cox left at 10:45 p.m. <br /> during Executive Session and was not present to vote on this item). <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 11:01 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Moseley and <br /> seconded by Mr. Mayhew. <br />
