City Council <br />Meeting Minutes January 7, 2020 <br />Against: 5 - Council Member Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Mayor Pro Tem Mihalkanin, Deputy <br />Mayor Pro Tem Rockeymoore, and Council Member Gonzales <br />MOTION TO APPROVE: A motion was made by Mayor Hughson, seconded <br />by Council Member Derrick, to approve Resolution 2020-07R. <br />Discussion was held regarding the uses of the Airport. The motion to approve <br />carried by the following vote: <br />For: 5 - Council Member Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Mayor Pro Tem Mihalkanin, <br />Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Rockeymoore and Council Member Gonzales <br />Against: 2 - Council Member Marquez and Council Member Baker <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Mihalkanin, seconded by Council <br />Member Baker, to reconsider item #2 of the consent agenda and make note <br />that he will abstain from a vote on this item due to his employment with Texas <br />State University. The motion to reconsider carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Council Member Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Mayor Pro Tem Mihalkanin, Council <br />Member Marquez, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Rockeymoore, Council Member <br />Baker and Council Member Gonzales <br />Against: 0 <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />9. Receive a Staff presentation and hold a Public Hearing to receive comments for or <br />against Ordinance 2020-01, annexing into the City approximately 39.37 acres of land out <br />of the Cyrus Wickson Survey, Abstract No. 474, Hays County, generally located at the <br />western corner of South Old Bastrop Highway and Rattler Road; including procedural <br />provisions; and providing an effective date; and consider approval of Ordinance 2020-01, <br />on the first of two readings. <br />Michael Ostrowski, Assistant Director of Development Services, provided a <br />brief presentation regarding the annexation of approximately 39.37 acres of <br />land located at the western corner of South Old Bastrop Highway and Rattler <br />Road. <br />Mayor Hughson opened the Public Hearing at 7:47 p.m. <br />Those who spoke: <br />Ed Theriot, stated he is in favor of the project and is available to answer any <br />questions Council may have on this item. <br />There being no further comments, the Mayor closed Public Hearing at 7:50 pm <br />A motion was made Council Member Gonzales, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem <br />City of San Marcos Page 8 <br />
