<br />138. <br />Special Meeting <br /> <br />May 7, 2002 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />PLACE 3 AND ELECTING A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE 4; ESTABLISHING <br />EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS AND POLLING PLACES FOR THIS ELECTION; MAKING <br />PROVISIONS FOR THE CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION; AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr. Cox moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency, and Mr. Mayhew <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Chiu introduced for consideration adoption of a Resolution, the <br />caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPOINTING PRESIDING JUDGES AND ALTERNATE JUDGES TO SERVE IN A <br />SPECIAL RUNOFF ELECTION BY THE CITY TO BE HELD ON JUNE 1, 2002; <br />CHARGING THE JUDGES WITH THE DUTY TO HOLD THIS ELECTION IN THEIR <br />RESPECTIVE POLLING PLACES FOR EACH PRECINCT; APPOINTING A PRESIDING <br />JUDGE OF THE CENTRAL COUNTING STATION, A TABULATION SUPERVISOR OF THE <br />CENTRAL COUNTING STATION, AND A CENTRAL COUNTING STATION MANAGER; <br />APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE CENTRAL <br />COUNTING STATION OF CERTAIN CLERKS; APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE <br />TABULATION SUPERVISOR OF CERTAIN ASSISTANTS; APPROVING THE <br />APPOINTMENT BY THE EARLY VOTING CLERK OF CERTAIN DEPUTY EARLY VOTING <br />CLERKS; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Cox moved for adoption of the Resolution, and Mr. Mayhew seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Due to the Runoff the issuance of Certificates of Election, administering <br />Oaths of Office and election of Mayor Pro-Tempore and Deputy Mayor Pro- <br />Tempore will be considered following the Runoff Election to be held on <br />June 1, 2002. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 6:08 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Mayhew and <br />seconded by Mr. Cox. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />David Chiu <br />Mayor <br /> <br />Hughson <br />Mayor Pro-Tern <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Ed Mihalkanin <br />Council Member <br /> <br /> <br />
