b. Restraining movement by tying, enclosing in a confined space, shaking, or using <br />exercise as punishment. <br />c. Being verbally abusive, including, but not limited to, threats, belittling remarks, <br />humiliation, embarrassment, or frightening a child. <br />d. Giving any child the authority to punish another child. <br />e. Placing a child out of visual/hearing range, in the dark, or in an unventilated area. <br />f. Punishing a child for a toileting accident. <br />g. Taunting a child by or any other form of jeering. <br />h. Giving preferential attention to any child over another child. <br />3. To protect a child from injuring themselves, other Participants, or Program staff, the <br />child may be removed and/or isolated if deemed necessary. <br />4. Program Staff will use brief, supervised, separation (time out) from the group, if <br />necessary. <br />5. Discipline Guidelines: <br />a. First intervention <br />a. Program staff will counsel the participant concerning behavior expectations, <br />the appropriate behavior and the possible consequences for the behavior <br />demonstrated. <br />b. Second intervention <br />a. The participant will not be allowed to participate in activities for 5 to 10 <br />minutes (length of time will vary according to the behavior. <br />c. Third intervention <br />a. Assistant Site and/or Site Supervisor will talk to the parent, or person <br />designated to pick up the participant concerning behavior. <br />The first three could take place in a short period of time depending on the response of the <br />participant. <br />d. Fourth intervention <br />a. A one to three day suspension could be determined by Program Coordinator <br />and Site Supervisor, depending on the severity of the behavior or incident. <br />A parent conference may be required. <br />b. If you received a Discipline Notice, your child will not be able to return to <br />camp until parents have met with Program Coordinator. <br />e. Fifth intervention <br />Participant will be dismissed from program for the remainder of the summer. <br />6. Serious offenses include, but are not limited to: <br />1. Disrespectful behavior toward other participants and program staff <br />2. Leaving the defined boundaries of site or field trip facility <br />3. Refusal to follow rules, policies and staff directions <br />4. PhysicalNerbal abuse (BULLYING) or any sort of threat WILL NOT BE <br />TOLERATED and are grounds for dismissal from the program. <br />5. Possession of anything that can be considered a weapon. <br />6. Inappropriate or sexually provocative behaviors. <br />7. Possession of over the counter, illegal drugs or unauthorized prescription drugs, <br />tobacco, or alcohol <br />8. Serious offenses will SKIP interventions 1 through 3 and may lead to suspension <br />or dismissal. <br />Serious offenses will NOT BE TOLERATED and are grounds for IMMEDIATE dismissal <br />from the program. <br />
