SAN MARCOS TRANSIT PLAN I FINALREPORT <br />City of San Marcos <br />Proposed Route 1 —Hunter <br />The proposed Hunter route would run every 6o minutes on weekdays weeknights, and Saturdays <br />between STAR Park on McCartyLn and downtown San Marcos via Hunter Road, Stagecoach <br />Trail, and Hopkins Street. Key destinations include The Village (with offices of WIC, Community <br />Action, Inc., and others), Hays County Government Center, and H EB. Nearly 8o percent of <br />respondents supportedthis proposal. <br />Proposed Route 2 — Post <br />Route 2 would operate the same alignment every 6o minutes it does today except it would end at <br />the proposed downtown San Marcos transit plaza rather than at the CARTS intermodal center. <br />Between downtown San Marcos and the intersection of Thorpe Ln andAquarena Springs Dr, <br />Route 2 shares its alignment with proposed Route 3, creating 30 -minute service in that segment. <br />On weeknights and Saturdays, University express Post Road route couldbeusedbymanylocal <br />riders to access their destination. 71 percent of respondents supported this change and the <br />remaining respondents were equally divided between accepting it and not supporting it. <br />Proposed Route 3 — Uhland <br />Route 3 would operate the same alignment every 6o minutes it does today except it would end at <br />the proposed downtown San Marcos transit plaza ratherthan atthe CARTS intermodal center. <br />Between downtown San Marcos and the intersection of Thorpe Ln andAquarena Springs Dr, <br />Route 3 shares its alignment with proposed Route 2, creating 30 -minute service in that segment. <br />On weeknights and Saturdays, University express Blanco River route couldbe used bymany local <br />riders to access their destinations. 75 p ercent of respondents supported this change while the <br />remaining respondents were evenly split among acceptingthe change and not supporting it. <br />Proposed Route 4 — Hopkins <br />Route 4 would operate every 30 minutes on weekdays, weeknights, and Saturdays between <br />downtown San Marcos and Walmartvia E Hopkins St, Linda Dr, and River Rd. This routewould <br />replace the existing Route 4 and the eastern half of existing Route 1, both of which currentlyserve <br />Walmart. Nearly8o percent of respondents support the proposed Route 4 changes. <br />Proposed Route 5 — Guadalupe <br />Route 5 would operate every 6o minutes on weekdays, weeknights, and Saturdays betweenthe <br />San Marcos outlets along I-35 and downtown San Marcos. Key destinations along proposed Route <br />5 include Central Texas Medical Center, Target, the OutletMalls, and SunsetAcres,whichtodayis <br />only served on a limited b asis. Roughly 75% of all respondents support the proposed change. 13 <br />percent of respondents saidtheydidn't support it but could accept it. The remainderof <br />respondents could not supportthe change. <br />Proposed Route 6 — McCarty <br />Route 6 would operate every 6o minutes during peaktimes as an extension of proposed Route 1 <br />to serve the Amazon Fulfillment Center, San Marcos High School, and Redwood. Route 6would <br />serve McCarty Ln, Rattler Rd, Guadalupe St, Old Bastrop Rd, and Redwood Rd. 75 percent of <br />respondents supportthis change. 11 percent of respondents could not support the change while <br />the remainder wouldn't support it but could accept it. <br />Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates, Inc.
