<br />FUND j'YPE <br /> <br />G~ FUND <br /> <br />SPECIAL RBVBHUE FUNDS <br /> <br />crn OF SAN MARCOS <br />GOVERHlÅ’NTAL FUND 'l'YPES <br />INVESTMENT CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />APPENDIX C <br /> <br />FUND <br /> <br />INVESTMENT AND <br />CASH FLOW CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />GENERAL FUND <br /> <br />Primary cash flow of property taxes usuallY received during months <br />of December and January. Sales tax revenues are received on a <br />monthly basis. Expenditures (64% consists of salaries) occur on a <br />fairly even basis. Investment of unappropriated fund balance <br />(approx. $2.1 million) can be made up to two years. PTX revenues <br />received during Dec. and Jan. can be invested for a period between <br />30 - 90 days. Investment opportunities in the General Fund can be <br />affected by delays in the City receiving reimbursement for FAA and <br />WIC grants. The cash advancement made for these programs is not <br />available for investment until reimbursement is made by the <br />Federal or State agency. <br /> <br />HOTEL OCCUPANCY FUND <br /> <br />Revenues from Hotel OCcupancy Tax received on a quarterly basis. <br />Unappropriated fund balance (reserve for a civic center approx. <br />$363,000 9/30/88) can be invested up to two years. Payments to <br />the Chamber of Commerce (6/7% of total taxes collected) are made <br />on a quarterly basis. Balance earns interest in a money market <br />account. <br /> <br />KARNACK EQUIPMENT FUND <br /> <br />This fund established to record transactions relating to purchase <br />of equipment to televise council meeting. $38,829.56 available at <br />9/30/89. Balance earns interest in a money market account. <br /> <br />'Phis fund is reimbursed after the expenditures have occurred by <br />the State. There are no cash balances available for investment <br />purposes. Once reimbursement is received, this fund immediately <br />reimburses the General Fund for expenditures incurred. <br /> <br />POLICE GRANT <br /> <br />G~NERAL REVENUE SHARING <br /> <br />The $46,258.79 balance remaining in this fund will be expended <br />during the current year. Money market interest earnings revert to <br />the General Fund since the federal gov 't. has terminated this <br />program. <br /> <br />GRANTS & SPECIAL ENTL. <br /> <br />The funds deposited into this fund consist of restricted state <br />grants that cannot earn interest. A non-interest bearing checking <br />account is used. <br /> <br />13 <br />
