City Council <br />Meeting Minutes December 14, 2020 <br />provided the Oath of Office to Jane Hughson. <br />Mayor Hughson issued the Certificate of Election to Council Member Mark <br />Gleason, Place 5. Following issuance of the Certificate, Reverend Ray Marshall <br />provided the Oath of Office to Mark Gleason. <br />Council Member Joca Marquez expressed her appreciation to City Council <br />and Staff for their work during her time in office. <br />3. Consider nominations and appointments of the Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro <br />Tem. <br />Mayor Hughson opened the floor to nominations for the Mayor Pro Tem <br />position. <br />Council Member Baker nominated Council Member Melissa Derrick to serve <br />as the Mayor Pro Tem. <br />Council Member Derrick was unanimously approved to serve as the Mayor <br />Pro Tem. <br />Council Member Derrick nominated Council Member Baker to serve as <br />Deputy Mayor Pro Tem. <br />Council Member Gonzales nominated Council Member Scott to serve as <br />Deputy Mayor Pro Tem. <br />A roll call voice vote was taken on the nominations for Deputy Mayor Pro <br />Tem as follows: <br />For Council Member Baker: Council Member Derrick, Council Member Baker <br />For Council Member Scott: Mayor Hughson, Council Member Scott, Council <br />Member Gonzales, Council Member Garza, Council Member Gleason <br />Council Member Scott was elected Deputy Mayor Pro Tem. <br />III. Adjournment. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Gonzales, seconded by Council <br />Member Baker, to adjourn the Special Meeting at 5:45 p.m. The motion <br />carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Marquez, Council Member Baker, Council <br />Member Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott and Council Member Garza <br />Against: 0 <br />City of San Marcos Page 2 <br />
