RESOLUTION NO. 2021-42R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 418.108(B) OF THE TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE EXTENDING THE MAYOR'S DECLARATION OF A LOCAL STATE OF DISASTER IN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS DUE TO DUE TO SEVERE WINTER WEATHER RECITALS: WHEREAS, on February 12, 2021 a Declaration of State of Disaster was issued by Governor Abbott in all 254 counties in Texas due to severe winter weather, including Hays County and the City of San Marcos; WHEREAS, Mayor Jane Hughson issued a declaration of a Local State of Disaster in San Marcos, Texas on February 13, 2021 due to severe winter weather; and WHEREAS, San Marcos residents continue to experience interruption of electric service and water supply to their homes due to the extreme weather conditions including extended periods of below freezing temperatures; and WHEREAS, the accumulation of ice on area roadways has made vehicular travel dangerous for residents and for emergency services personnel; and WHEREAS, Section 418.108(b) of the Texas Government Code authorizes the continuation of a declaration of a local state of disaster with the consent governing body of a political subdivision THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. The declaration of a local state of disaster made by Mayor Jane Hughson on February 13, 2021 (attached to this resolution as Exhibit A" and incorporated herein by reference) is hereby continued in San Marcos, Texas with the consent of the city council. PART 2. The declaration shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be promptly filed with the City Clerk as required by Section 418.108(c) of the Texas Disaster Act. PART 3. This resolution is effective immediately and will remain in effect until 12:00 P.M. on Friday, February 26, 2021. ADOPTED on February 19, 2021.
