RESOLUTION NO. 2021-42R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 418.108(B) OF THE <br />TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE EXTENDING THE MAYOR'S <br />DECLARATION OF A LOCAL STATE OF DISASTER IN THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS DUE TO DUE TO SEVERE WINTER WEATHER <br />RECITALS: <br />WHEREAS, on February 12, 2021 a Declaration of State of Disaster was issued by <br />Governor Abbott in all 254 counties in Texas due to severe winter weather, including <br />Hays County and the City of San Marcos; <br />WHEREAS, Mayor Jane Hughson issued a declaration of a Local State of Disaster in <br />San Marcos, Texas on February 13, 2021 due to severe winter weather; and <br />WHEREAS, San Marcos residents continue to experience interruption of electric service <br />and water supply to their homes due to the extreme weather conditions including <br />extended periods of below freezing temperatures; and <br />WHEREAS, the accumulation of ice on area roadways has made vehicular travel <br />dangerous for residents and for emergency services personnel; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 418.108(b) of the Texas Government Code authorizes the <br />continuation of a declaration of a local state of disaster with the consent governing body of <br />a political subdivision <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The declaration of a local state of disaster made by Mayor Jane Hughson on <br />February 13, 2021 (attached to this resolution as Exhibit <br />A" and incorporated herein by reference) is hereby continued in San Marcos, Texas with the <br />consent of the city council. <br />PART 2. The declaration shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be <br />promptly filed with the City Clerk as required by Section 418.108(c) of the Texas Disaster Act. <br />PART 3. This resolution is effective immediately and will remain in effect until 12:00 <br />P.M. on Friday, February 26, 2021. <br />ADOPTED on February 19, 2021. <br />
