CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS <br />MAYORAL DECLARATION OFLOCAL STATE 0F DISASTER <br />DUE TO SEVERE WINTER WEATHER <br />BE IT KNOWN: <br />WHEREAS, severe winter weather is predicted to occur between February 13, 2021 and February 19, <br />2021.oahas been reported bythe National Weather SenvioeaeoVNntev8bormVVamhngfor8anYNaxoot. <br />and <br />WHEREAS, temperatures are forecast below freezing, making road conditions extremely hazardous for the <br />public, endangering the health, safety, and welfare of San Marcos residents; and <br />WHEREAS, the the winter weather assistance for stranded <br />motorists, isolated citizens, medical emergencies, downed trees, road debris, and power outages,rnat,moy <br />surpass the capabilities of the City of San Marcos to respond to and recover from its effects, thus requiring <br />state assistance, and <br />WHEREAS, on February 12, 2021, Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, declared a State of Disaster in all 254 <br />counties, hoinclude Hays County and the City ofSan Marcos; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BEO[PROCLAIMED BfTHE MAYOR OF SAN MARCO0: <br />Byvirtue ofthe authority vested in me by the City Charter, as the presiding officer of the governing body and under <br />Texas Government Code, Section 418.OD.|DECLARE alocal state ofdisaster within the City ofSan Marcos. � <br />Pursuant to $418.108(b) ofthe Texas Government Oude, the otob* of disaster shall continue for period of not <br />more than seven days from the doba of this declaration unless continued or renewed by the Son PNarome City <br />Council. <br />Pursuant to $418.1 08(c) of the Texas Government Code, this declaration of a local state of disaster shall be given <br />prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the City Clerk. <br />Pursuant to $418.108(d) of the Texas Government Oode, this declaration of a local state of disaster activates <br />Gan [Nav000 Emergency Operations Management Plan and all other Charter, statutory, and ordinance powers <br />vested in me and all officers of the City of San Marcos to act in this local state of disaster are activated. This <br />declaration activates the recovery and rehabilitation aspects of all applicable local or inter -jurisdictional emergency <br />management pons and authorizes the furnishing of all aid and assistance as deemed necessary or desirable by <br />those administering, such plans. <br />Pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 122.006, the City may adopt rules, including quarantine rules, to <br />protect the health of persons in the City, and provide for the establishment ofquarantine atadiono, emergency <br />hospitals, and other hospitals. <br />That this proclamation shall take effect immediately from and after its issuance. <br />ORDERED this the 13~day ofFebruary 2O21 <br />Mat, City of San Marcos <br />T my ~—fhterimQtylark, City of San Marcos <br />
