City Council <br />Meeting Minutes February 2, 2021 <br />Block of Riverway Avenue, from "CC" Community Commercial District to "HC" Heavy <br />Commercial District; including procedural provisions; and consider approval of <br />Ordinance 2021-08 on the first of two readings. <br />For: 6 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Gonzales, Deputy Mayor <br />Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council Member Gleason <br />Against: 1 - Council Member Baker <br />NON -CONSENT AGENDA <br />8. Consider approval of Resolution 2021-26R, approving an agreement with Rattler Road <br />Storage, LLC, for the provision of services in connection with the proposed owner <br />requested annexation in Case Number AN -20-09 of approximately 3.63 acres of land <br />generally located on the North Side of Rattler Road, between Old Bastrop Highway and <br />Highway 123; authorizing the City Manager, or his designee, to execute said agreement <br />on behalf of the City; setting a date for a Public Hearing concerning the proposed <br />annexation of said tract of land; and declaring an effective date. <br />A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, seconded by Council <br />Member Gleason, to approve Resolution 2021-26R. <br />The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Council Member <br />Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council <br />Member Gleason <br />Against: 0 <br />9. Consider approval, by motion, that authorizes submission of a letter to Governor Greg <br />Abbott from the San Marcos City Council expressing the body's collective request for <br />more aggressive public safety and health measures related to slowing the spread of <br />COVID-19 in Texas. <br />Mr. Lumbreras stated the letter provided was drafted by Council Member <br />Baker and Mayor Pro Tem Derrick and turned it over to Council Member <br />Baker for discussion. <br />Council Member Baker would like to amend the letter to be addressed not only <br />to Gov. Abbott but also include Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. John Cornyn and <br />President Biden. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Baker, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem <br />Derrick, to add Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. John Cornyn and President Biden as <br />recipients of the letter. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Council Member <br />Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council <br />Member Gleason <br />City of San Marcos Page 10 <br />
