AIRPORT MASTER PLAN <br />Marcos Regional Airport currently meets both of these requirements with <br />approximately 200 based aircraft and 39,635 itinerant operations in FY2018. <br />The TASP does not have any specific minimum design standards for reliever <br />airports. However, the TASP states that reliever airports typically have an Airport <br />Reference Code (ARC) of C-II or D-II. <br />current Airport Layout Plan (ALP), the current ARC for the Airport is C-II. <br />National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS) sets minimum <br />standards used to identify airports that are critical to the national air transportation <br />system and <br />Airport Improvement Program (AIP). The NPIAS report is updated bi-annually and <br />presents a rolling five-year plan related to airport infrastructure and development <br />needs. The most recent NPIAS plan was presented to Congress on September 26, <br />2018 and is for Fiscal Years (FY) 2019 2023. The NPIAS currently includes 3,328 <br />airports in the United States. <br />Within the NPIAS, airports are classified into one of several categories. Currently, <br />NPIAS. The NPIAS states that national airports are located in metropolitan areas <br />near major business centers and support flying throughout the nation and world. <br />National airports provide pilots with attractive alternatives to busier primary <br />airports. Of the 3,328 airports identified in the NPIAS, 88 airports in the United <br />States are categorized as . <br />Beginning in 2010, the FAA began a national review of general aviation airports and <br />their impact within the United States. The study, released in 2012, highlighted a <br />number of benefits of general aviation airports and their impact on the <br />communities they serve. According to the report, the San Marcos Regional Airport is <br />class airport. The study goes on to state that regional airports <br />are airports located in metropolitan areas and serve relatively large populations. <br />These airports typically have a substantial amount of charter, jet, and rotorcraft <br />flights. <br />Inventory Chapter Page 4of 52 <br />October 2020 <br /> <br />
