• Swimming pools; <br />• Aesthetic water features; <br />• Washing of impervious surfaces; <br />• Foundation watering; and <br />• Other non-essential water uses. <br />Specific measures for each stage can be found in the Water Conservation Ordinance in <br />Appendix A. <br />6.0 Variances <br />The Director may grant a variance to the provisions of this Plan if it is determined that <br />special circumstances exist. A variance will be considered if it meets any of the following <br />conditions: <br />• Compliance will adversely affect public health and/or safety, <br />• Compliance cannot be technically accomplished, or <br />• Alternative methods can be implemented which will achieve the same reduction <br />in water use. <br />Persons requesting an exemption from the provisions of this Plan must file a petition for variance <br />with the Director. Petitions for variance must include the following information: <br />• Name and address of petitioner(s), <br />• Purpose and location of water use, <br />• Specific provision(s) of the Plan from which the petitioner is requesting a <br />variance, <br />• Detailed explanation of how the specific provision of the Plan will adversely <br />affect the petitioner, <br />• Period of time for which the variance is sought, <br />• Alternative demand management measures the petitioner is taking or proposes to <br />take to meet the intent of this Plan, and <br />• Any other pertinent information as requested. <br />Petitions for variance will be reviewed and acted upon within two weeks of receipt. If <br />the petition for variance is denied, the petitioner may request an appeal from the San Marcos <br />City Manager. <br />!� <br />
