City Council Meeting Minutes August 3, 2021 <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Council Member <br />Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council <br />Member Gleason <br />Against: 0 <br />43. Hold discussion regarding options related to amending Section 58.068 of the San <br />Marcos City Code that prohibits possession or shooting of a speargun by any <br />person while in or upon the San Marcos River without a permit issued by the Parks <br />and Recreation Department; and providing direction to Staff. <br />A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, seconded by Mayor <br />Hughson, to postpone discussion to August 17th. The motion carried by the <br />following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Council Member <br />Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council <br />Member Gleason <br />Against: 0 <br />44. Hold discussion related to the Champions Crossing, LLC Letter of Support for an application to <br />the Texas Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (TDHCA), and provide direction to Staff. <br />Amanda Hernandez, Assistant Director of Planning, provided a brief <br />presentation. Ms.Hernandez stated on June 16, 2021 a representative of <br />Champions Crossing LLC reached out to staff in reference to their intent to <br />rehabilitate the Champions Crossing, Low Income Housing, Development and <br />to apply to Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) <br />for Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). <br />Ms. Hernandez mentioned the new LIHTC development would be required to <br />submit an application to staff, undergo internal review, and be presented to the <br />Workforce Housing City Council Committee for a recommendation prior to <br />consideration of a resolution of support. <br />A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, seconded by Council Member <br />Baker, to refer this item to the Council Workforce Housing Committee. <br />The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 7 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick, Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Council Member <br />Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott, Council Member Garza and Council <br />Member Gleason <br />Against: 0 <br />45.
